About Me

Jackson Spargur is a composer from Los Angeles currently living and working in the Hudson Valley, in upstate New York. In 2024 he cowrote the score (along with longtime Hollywood composer David Kitay) to A Life in Rhythm: The Ray Conniff Story, which premiered that year in the Woodstock Film Festival. In early 2025 they wrote their second score together for Lahaina Rising, an award-winning documentary on the devastating fire that destroyed Lahaina, Hawaii in 2023.
In addition to scoring, he is available for a wide array of musical services, such as arrangements, transcriptions, engraving, and orchestration. Jackson is also available as a violinist in the New York area.
As a composer of concert music Jackson has worked many times with the Da Capo Chamber Players, as well as the Bard Conservatory Orchestra. He graduated from Bard Conservatory in 2020, where he studied with Joan Tower, George Tsontakis and Susan Botti.
During the 2023 Accademia Chigiana Film Scoring Program in Siena, Italy, Jackson had the opportunity to study with USC faculty Lawrence Shragge and Patrick Kirst. He also attended the 2025 iteration of the Screen Music Program in Pavia, Italy. Through these programs Jackson has had the opportunity to record his work internationally – in 2025, he had a string quartet recorded in Pavia, and in 2023 he recorded a string quintet in Rome. In 2023 he also recorded with the Orchestra della Toscana at the Verdi Theater in Florence, as a part of the Chigiana Film Scoring program, and for that piece he won the program’s Best Original Score award.
